Governor of the Electricity Generating of Thailand (EGAT) suggests people to use energy economically during summer. Air-conditioners should be cleaned regularly to save electricity. EGAT Governor Kraisee Kannasutr ( óٵ) says the electronic appliance which consumes most electricity is the air-conditioner. The use of air-conditioners account for about 50-80 percent of the electricity cost of residences. He advised that people should clean air filters every month and have their air-conditioners checked-up twice a year to save about 30 percent of their electricity cost. The governor also promotes the use of fluorescent lamps instead of incandescent lamps. The first type of lamp is five times more efficient than the latter one. The country can save as much as many billions baht a year if people use more fluorescent lamps.
